Stag in kalgoorlie

As I was semi forced to make my own way to work last week due to a ticketing cockup, I decided to stretch the Stags legs and cruise up to Kalgoorlie where I reside most of the week.

Kalgoorlie is a city of about 30,000 about 370 miles east of Perth.. it was founded where it is because of what is known as the Golden Mile, an incredibly well mineralised area about a mile long which has produced 100million ounces of gold give or take in the last 110 years

This shot is at the northern end of that "mile" and shows a few of the old headframes + the signpost for the golden pipeline trail.. all 650kilometres of it. It actually starts/ends in Mundaring about 3 miles from my house in Perth where a Dam was built to supply, via a very long pipe, the (parched) goldfields

This shot shows the Superpit ... the trucks you can make out are 300 tons worth... V16 etc etc

Jack's Hill Summer series

Good fun series if a little hot at times,

Three Triumph appearing regularly, myself, Humph and George in his TR7 V8 . The results of the series are here http://members.iinet.net.au/~rmshaw1/

George beat me fairly comfortably once he got to grips with the tricky top end of the course... but then he was pulling over 100mph into the chicane halfway up the hill and I was only maxing in 3rd maybe 85-90 on a good day... thats what 4 webers and 5.2 litres does :-)

After some fairly shocking plug fouling issues on the first event, I changed to NGK iridium plugs as recommended by My Dave sideways... what a revelation... so much cleaner revving... wonderful improvement

Definite gear ratio issues at times.. but I couldn't be bothered dropping the gearbox to install a new selector to cover and run overdrive in 2nd as I used to.... I'll only break it...
